A Harleysville couple needed an update for their large, two-decades-old, two-story home. The stucco facade was outdated and had deteriorated past the point of repair, and the windows were old and not functioning properly.
They decided it was time to update the stucco and remodel their home’s exterior so it would reflect today’s styles. The Initial Inspection Uncovers Wood Rot
Before getting started on the overhaul, our team, including our designer, met multiple times with the clients. We reviewed the project, our price estimate, and our schedule. Once we nailed down the details, the Preferred Home Improvement team got to work!
While our clients came to us for a siding replacement, they were surprised to learn the extent of the damage we uncovered. We found rotted wood underneath the stucco and bad wood behind the existing stoop, all of which we replaced.
To replace the stucco, we installed James Hardie fiber cement siding. James Hardie siding is extremely durable and comes with a 30-year, non-prorated, transferable warranty so the Harleysville couple can expect it to last much longer than their stucco siding did. It is also fade- and climate-resistant, non-combustible, and low-maintenance.
We installed Marvin windows to replace the rickety old ones. Marvin windows are known for their exceptional quality, durability, low maintenance, and energy efficiency. And because they come in a variety of styles, we were able to find one to enhance the Harleysville home.
We also added impressive eight-foot doors, a pent roof, a copper-colored metal roof to the portico, an elegant stone veneer, and a stately blue stone stoop. The new white, black, and copper color scheme provided a much sleeker, more modern appearance than the dull stucco exterior.
